Water-Bath Canning: Red Plum Jam
Cost $65
Join Lori and friends in the Silly Dog Studios kitchen (aka, our home kitchen) to learn how to prepare and make beautiful, shelf-stable jars of red plum jam using amazing plums from Silly Dog Studios’ trees. This jam will be made with sugar. If there’s interest, we’ll also make some blueberry or blackberry jam the French way (no sugar!). This way takes longer, and you get less finished product, but it’s delicious and beloved by those who’ve given up refined sugar.
Lori has been home canning in Western Washington for 25 years as an adult and before that she canned with her mother and grandmothers in South Dakota. You will leave with at least 6 jars of your own delicious red plum jam that are shelf stable for up a year. You’ll also leave with the confidence and knowledge to make more on your own and feeling more connected to home canners everywhere. The cost of this class includes the cost of supplies (e.g., jars, rings, lids, produce, and other ingredients), instruction, and recipe and safety handouts. Class size limited to 5 people.
10 a.m. to about 3 p.m. Your jars will be available for pick up 24 hours later.
