This two- or three-day workshop is a basic introduction to platinum printing in the digital age. The two day workshop is all about making the platinum or palladium print. There is an optional third day, on the Friday before the workshop, where you can learn how to make your own digital negatives.
The workshop starts with some of the foundations and history of platinum printing. We will then discuss the options and variety of materials and chemistry for working in platinum and palladium. We will spend the rest of the time making prints using a variety of options that are available to us.
The workshop is very hands-on, and you will leave with all the information and skills you need to work from home. The workshop cost includes all materials, supplies, and a one-hour online follow up session to make sure that you have all your questions answered after you get home.
The workshop cost includes all necessary materials. You will need to provide your own images to print. If you are doing all three days, we will make digital images on the first day. If you are interested in only doing the two day works, I will make digital negatives of your images before you arrive to the workshop.
Snacks and coffee/tea are provided each day. The workshop will start at 9 a.m. and end around 4 p.m. each day.
There are a number of hotels and B&Bs to stay at on the island, or you can commute back to stay in the Seattle area.
